How Your Own Tooth Builds Bone
When a front tooth fails due to trauma, decay, or root resorption, the standard approach is extraction + bone graft + implant — often losing gum tissue in the process. The result can look unnatural even when the implant is perfectly placed.
Orthodontic extrusion takes a different path. Using very light forces (similar to braces), we slowly move the failing tooth outward over 3–6 months. As the tooth moves, it pulls the surrounding bone and gum tissue with it — building up the implant site naturally.
When the site is fully developed, the tooth is extracted and the implant is placed into bone that your own body built. The gum tissue — your own tissue — follows the natural contour, producing esthetic results that are hard to match with grafting alone.
Assessment & Planning
3D CBCT scan to evaluate the failing tooth and surrounding bone. We determine if extrusion is appropriate — ideal for front teeth in the esthetic zone where gum contour matters most.
Slow Extrusion
Light orthodontic forces move the tooth outward over 3–6 months. Bone and gum tissue follow the tooth root, regenerating naturally. Adjustments every few weeks.
Extraction & Implant
Once the site is fully developed, the tooth is extracted and the implant is placed into your newly regenerated bone. Often same-day temporary crown.
Final Restoration
After healing and integration (3–6 months), a custom crown is placed — designed for both esthetics and daily cleansability.
